Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

Story

Adol Christin is on a passenger ship called the Lombardia, sailing from Xandria to the continent of Eresia. He and Dogi have been recruited as crew for the ship in return for their embarkation. The captain of the ship, Captain Barbaros, tells Adol the story of the cursed island of Seiren, where many ships have disappeared while passing through. However, Adol's journey was interrupted by a giant sea monster that attacked the ship. He and the other passengers were thrown overboard as it dragged the ship to the bottom of the sea. Later, Adol awoke on the shore of the beach on the island of Seiren. An island of ancient, untamed wilderness populated by creatures found nowhere else in the world. He later discovers other people who have also washed up on the island. To facilitate the search for other survivors and to better defend themselves against the primeval beasts that roam the island, Adol and his fellow castaways found a settlement called Castaway Village. It wasn't long before Adol began having cryptic dreams about a mysterious young woman with flowing blue hair whose world Adol had never encountered before.
