Xanadu Next
Xanadu Next is an exploration-oriented action RPG from Nihon Falcom, the creators of the acclaimed RPG series Ys and The Legend of Heroes. Xanadu Next is the latest installment in the popular Dragonslayer series and a spiritual successor to the cult classic Faxanadu from the late 80s. The player takes on the role of a badly injured knight who has been brought back to life by ancient magic and must now search for a legendary sword called "Dragonslayer" to ensure his survival.
Story
"Whenever fog hangs over the waters of Lake Orwell on the Isle of Harlech, sailors spot a ghost castle just within reach. When they approach, it disappears into the fog like a mirage, leaving only questions for all who have seen this "Castle Strangerock". An aspiring scholar named Charlotte L. Wells has been infected by this local legend and is eager to investigate it for herself - but of course, the Isle of Harlech is no place for an unescorted young lady. To help her with her research, she enlists the help of an old childhood friend and fallen knight who agrees to accompany her on this adventure. When she arrives in Harlech and catches sight of Strangerock Castle, Char immediately plunges into investigating its mystery, leaving her companion to explore the surroundings on his own, in search of artifacts that might help uncover the origins of this ephemeral fortress. Unfortunately, this almost immediately leads to his death at the hands of a mysterious swordsman who seems to have fallen out of time.... but death is only the beginning of his adventure.
