Story

Since the late 20th century, the rapid increase in the world's population has brought the total number of people on the planet to over 10 billion. The lack of food and energy for this growing population has led to numerous wars over dwindling natural resources. In this time of fear, uncertainty and doubt, America put its hopes in the skies with the space colony SC-01 Providence. The colony was not immune to the social ills that had taken hold on Earth. The Order of the Russian Star, a faction of the Russian military that had seized power in their homeland through a coup d'état, immediately launched a surprise invasion of the colony. They began converting the microwave energy field into a powerful weapon in the sky and unleashed this fearsome force on the inhabitants of San Francisco. After declaring war on the Order through a weapon of mass destruction, they demanded the unconditional surrender of the United States within 10 hours, under penalty of the destruction of New York City. Since the President steadfastly refused to cooperate with the aggressors, he had no choice but to order a military strike to destroy the invaders and retake the colony. The strike was to be led by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Burns. DARPA employee Sam Gideon was also sent on the mission with an advanced weapon prototype.
