Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D is a PlayStation video game based on the book and movie series of the same name. Together with Countdown Vampires, it is one of the few survival horror games that revolve around vampires.

Story

The story of the game is similar to that of the second movie, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (which itself is based on the third novel). Essentially, D, a dhampir (translated as Dunpeal), is hired by an old man named Elbourne to rescue his daughter Charlotte, who has been kidnapped by a vampire, Meier Link. If his daughter had already mutated into a vampire, D was to kill her the human way. Elbourne's son also hired a team of human vampire hunters, the Marcus Brothers, to assist him. However, there are quite a few differences between the movie and the game. The story in the game is streamlined and largely takes place in Camila's castle. Only two of the Barbarois mutants (Benge and Mashira) appear as enemies, Caroline is not included. Borgoff and Leila are the only members of the Marcus brothers to appear in the story. Leila even becomes a playable character; Kyle, Nolt and Grove only have a few appearances in cutscenes and are later found dead. There are 3 possible endings based on the player's actions in the game, one of which is similar to the ending of the movie.
