Urtuk: The Desolation

Story

The game world is a place of toil, sorrow and darkness. There are no elves, dwarves, dragons or other classic fantasy creatures. There are some light magical elements, but no overwhelmingly powerful wizards either. Many centuries ago, giants roamed the world and lived peacefully with humans until the war between the two species wiped out the giants. A few years ago, a group of scientists discovered a process to extract the life essence of ancient giants from their bones. This mystical liquid promised to cure many different diseases, heal serious wounds, and perhaps even stop the aging process. Unfortunately, the serum often caused the opposite, mutations or fatal diseases, rather than improving the health of those affected. Until the exact nature of this miraculous medicine is clarified, experiments on unwilling subjects will continue. The story begins when the main character, Urtuk, escapes from the sanitarium, a facility where these experiments are performed on kidnapped citizens. Urtuk has suffered a severe mutation due to contact with the life essence, and his health is deteriorating day by day. Now he wanders the world in search of a cure. If he does not find a way to counteract his progressive mutation, Urtuk must eventually die.
