Ultima

Ultima

Ultima (later Ultima: The First Age of Darkness) is the first game in the Ultima series, developed by Richard Garriott. The game was one of the first commercial computer role-playing games and is considered an important and influential turning point for the development of the genre in the following years.

Story

The story of Ultima I revolves around the evil wizard Mondain and his rule over the kingdom of Sosaria. According to the game's backstory, Mondain created an evil gem over 1000 years ago that gave him immortality. Since then, Mondain has unleashed monsters and beasts on the land, wreaking havoc on the villages and towns of Sosaria and causing most of the nobles to squabble among themselves. In order to stop Mondain's reign, Lord British is looking for a person who can bring about the end of the sorcerer. This call is followed by the player.
