Touhou Fuumaroku: The Story of Eastern Wonderland

In The Story of Eastern Wonderland, the player takes on the role of the shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei and can choose between three different types of attack: a long-range type with low attack power, a medium-range type with medium attack power and the ability to aim automatically, and a short-range type with high attack power but slower movement speed. The bombs also behave differently depending on the type selected. As the Touhou Project's first danmaku shooter game, The Story of Eastern Wonderland introduces many features that have since become hallmarks of the entire series: relatively small hitboxes, boss characters that are not much bigger than the player character but are very mobile, a power-up system, items with variable point value, an unlockable extra stage and a reasonably complex scoring system. The game also marks the first appearance of Marisa Kirisame, who would become an important character in the series, appearing as often as Reimu Hakurei herself.
