The Messenger

As a demon army lays siege to his village, a young ninja makes his way through a cursed world to deliver a scroll that is crucial to the survival of his clan. The Messenger is an 8-bit action platformer with a simple story that evolves into an epic time travel tale, and eventually turns out to be a 16-bit Metroidvania game with high replay value and dry humor that takes advantage of players' expectations.
