The Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate
The warriors who defeated the evil wizard Mangar receive a letter during their victory celebration. The letter reports a terrible catastrophe: Mangar’s master, the mad god Tarjan, has unleashed his wrath upon the city of Skara Brae and completely destroyed it. The heroes visit a nearby refugee camp and set out on a mission to defeat Tarjan. Thief of Fate is the third installment in the Bard’s Tale series and a sequel to The Destiny Knight. It follows in the footsteps of its predecessors and is a first-person fantasy role-playing game in which the player explores labyrinthine pseudo-3D cities, dungeons, and wilderness areas. Two new character classes have been added: Geomancer and Chronomancer. There are more dungeons than in the previous games, and this installment also features an auto-mapping function. The game world is divided into separate realms accessible via time portals, each with its own theme and setting—including famous locations from Earth’s history such as ancient Rome or Berlin during World War II.
