Tenchu: Stealth Assassins

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins

"Tenchu: Stealth Assassins" is an action-adventure stealth game developed by Acquire in 1998 and published in Japan by Sony Music Entertainment Japan and worldwide by Activision for the PlayStation. "Tenchu" is known for its stealth gameplay and the eerie setting of feudal Japan. Tenchu was one of the first ninja games to incorporate stealth elements—a very important aspect of ninjutsu. Aside from traditional martial arts in combat, however, the game also features elements of historical fantasy and Japanese mythology. Motion-capture technology was also used for the game, with actor and martial artist Sho Kosugi and his son Kane hired to perform the combat movements.

Story

The game takes place in feudal Japan and introduces a pair of ninja: Rikimaru (力丸) and Ayame (彩女), who have been members of the Azuma ninja clan since childhood. The two ninja serve the heroic Lord Gohda and work for him as his secret spies to root out corruption and gather information in his province. However, the evil demonic sorcerer Lord Mei-Oh tries to destroy Lord Gohda by using his demon warrior Onikage, who causes chaos in Lord Gohda's province.
