Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
NOTE: This is the original arcade version for 4 players, not the NES title. You can choose between the four Ninja Turtles: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. After Shredder kidnaps the Turtles' friend April O'Neil and their mentor Splinter, you must give chase, rescue your friends, and defeat the evil Shredder. The player chooses one of the four Ninja Turtles: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. Depending on the version of the game, the characters are either selected at the beginning of the game or assigned via the control panel. After Shredder kidnaps the Turtles' friend April O'Neil and their mentor Splinter, they must give chase, rescue their comrades, and defeat the evil Shredder. Up to four players (two in some versions) can take control of one of the Turtles. Donatello has slower attacks but a longer range, Michelangelo and Raphael have faster attacks but a shorter range, and Leonardo is a versatile Turtle with average range and speed. The eight-way joystick controls the Turtles' movements, the jump button makes them jump, and the attack button makes them strike with their weapon in front of them. In addition, some combinations are possible. The Turtles can throw Foot soldiers over their heads, and pressing the jump and attack buttons performs a special attack. Raphael rolls across the ground and finishes the attack with a kick, while the other Turtles perform a sweeping jump attack with their weapons. In certain areas, the Turtles can also jump off walls. Enemies can be defeated more quickly by throwing them against walls or solid objects. Many objects such as traffic cones, parking meters, fire hydrants, and exploding oil drums can be hit or damaged with attacks to defeat nearby enemies. In Attract Mode, the game showed the first part of the cartoon intro along with an excerpt from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song. Most of the enemies the Turtles face are Foot Soldiers, all of whom are color-coded to indicate their attack patterns and weapons of choice. Some enemies, such as the standard purple-clad Foot Soldiers and Roadkill Rodney robots, can restrict the Turtles' movement and weaken their health, leaving the player vulnerable to attacks from other enemies. Bosses in the game include Rocksteady and Bebop (first individually in that order, then both together), Baxter Stockman, Granitor, General Traag, Krang, and Shredder himself.
Story
One night, when the four Turtles are on the rooftops of New York, they are ambushed by foot soldiers. They later find out that the foot soldiers, with the help of April, have built a mutagen bomb to mutate all of New York. After the brothers defuse the bomb, the Turtles receive a call from April's cell phone, which has been hijacked by Shredder. He has kidnapped April and demands that the Turtles bring him Splinter.
