Story

In the past, a comet crashed into the world, hurling clouds of dust into the sky and shrouding the world in cold and darkness. Around the same time, the inhabitants, the Aether, discovered a new form of energy from the core of the meteorite, which they called Lens. Combined with further research, the humans were able to build cities in the sky and live in them. Unfortunately, only a select few were chosen, leaving the rest of the people on the desolate surface of the planet. These humans became known as the Erthers. The story of the game begins with the country boy and adventurer Stahn Aileron sneaking aboard the flying ship Draconis as a stowaway in search of fame and adventure. He is discovered by the crew and forced to work as a deckhand, but when a large enemy force attacks the ship, the crew is overwhelmed and Stahn breaks free in the ensuing chaos. Searching for a useful weapon to fend off the attackers, he gains access to a storeroom and discovers a "scrap sword". However, the sword begins to speak to him, calling itself Dymlos and claiming to be a sentient swordsman from the Aeth'er Wars. Armed with Dymlos, Stahn fights his way to an escape pod, which allows him to escape the rapidly sinking ship before it crashes to the ground.
