Streets of Rage

Streets of Rage is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game developed and published by Sega for the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991. It is the first installment in the Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage series, followed by Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3.

Story

The once peaceful city has been taken over by a criminal syndicate that includes parts of the police force. Mass violence is now the order of the day and no one is safe. Adam Hunter (a successful boxer), Axel Stone (an experienced martial artist) and Blaze Fielding (judo expert) are young ex-cops who left the police force to fight against the syndicate. Depending on whether the game is played in single-player or two-player co-op mode, and whether the player accepts or rejects Mr. X's offer to join his henchmen, there is the possibility of an alternative ending in which the player becomes the new boss of the crime syndicate.
