Starforge

Starforge

StarForge is a game about collecting resources, building bases, manufacturing all sorts of things and surviving on an alien planet. Earth's star is dying and humanity has taken as much technology and resources there as possible and set out to colonize another planet. StarForge was inspired by Halo, Warcraft 3, Borderlands, Terraria and Minecraft. It contains elements from the RTS, FPS, RPG, Voxel Builder, Tower Defense and Physics Sandbox genres. We are building a dark and serious universe and want players to live out their own unique story on the procedural planet.

Story

Earth - Why we left In the years 2073-2253, there was relative peace on Earth and most of the funds were put into space exploration, establishing small bases on the Moon and Mars. However, a new problem soon emerged. Not only on Earth, but also on the Moon and Mars, there was a sharp increase in earthquakes. As it soon turned out, a rogue black hole had entered a large, decaying orbit with the Sun. It was estimated that in less than a thousand years the tidal forces would become so great that no planet in the solar system would be habitable. To cope with this harsh reality, the nations of Earth formed the New Space Initiative. With all available telescopes, the heavens were searched for new worlds, while the archives of the already known worlds below were scoured. One planet was found and deemed habitable. It was named Atlas because we hoped that one day it would carry the Earth on its shoulders. It was also at this time that scientists discovered how to make objects travel almost at the speed of light. However, even with the relativistic effects of traveling at near the speed of light and medical advances in longevity, the planet was still too far away for a human to reach in a lifetime. So for the next 1000 years, Earth sent resources to this new planet in hopes of one day sending humans there. Every company on Earth had to send huge amounts of equipment and weapons. They were in huge freighters on a one-way mission. Along with the freighters, all of humanity's knowledge was sent on various data carriers so that nothing would be forgotten. To prepare the planet for colonization, robots were also sent to populate the land with trees, grasses, food and shrubs. Through the superlunimal communicators that the freighters carried, it was soon discovered that many of the supplies that had been sent in advance disappeared. There was little information about what happened, but it appeared that they were pilfered by creatures that appeared to be behaving intelligently; and those were the ones that arrived at the beginning, many lost along the way for unknown reasons. Nevertheless, supplies continued to be sent; too much had already been invested to turn back. It was the dawn of the new millennium. A somber mood prevailed in the streets of every city on every corner of the earth. Everyone was under the shadow of death on the quaking earth. It would have been better to be mutilated and thrown into the depths of the seas than to live through these times. Then, by chance, it came: the invention of the warp drive, which allowed people to travel to the depths of space in an instant. In the year 3085, you have already left Earth, having been selected by a lottery system to become part of humanity's new home. While you are aboard the life ships, countless others are traveling in their cryopods, dreaming of waking up and getting a second chance. You have been chosen as one of the advance scouts who will prepare the way for the others. After being sent ahead of the giant life ships, contact with them soon broke off, and to make matters worse, most of the advance scouts got caught in unexpected atmospheric turbulence along the way, scattering everything and everyone and destroying most of what you were carrying. Now that the first planet on Atlas has fallen, your only goal is to survive the new planet and ensure the survival of humanity. Whatever it takes, you must face the unknown alone....
