Star Ocean: The Divine Force

Story

The Pangalactic Federation. Since its beginnings in the Sol system, this organization has strived to bring peace and tranquility to the people of the galaxy. Over time, their sphere of influence has expanded across the universe and many heroes have served under their banner, saving planets in need. But in the year 583 SD, things have changed. The once peaceful Pangalactic Federation is now known for assimilating planets against their will. Once they stood for justice, now they are shrouded in darkness. Raymond, captain of the merchant ship Ydas, sets out from the non-federated planet Verguld on a standard transportation mission. The mission is simple, the route familiar, but things go awry when the Ydas is attacked by the Astoria: a battleship with a member of the leading Kenny family of the Pangalactic Federation on board. Raymond and his comrade-in-arms Chloe are forced to abandon ship amidst the chaos and head for the remote, underdeveloped planet Aster IV. Before their escape pods can land, an EMP-like energy blast from the planet's surface disables their systems and causes them to crash. They find themselves separated and stranded on an unknown planet. After landing, Raymond is immediately attacked by some of the less friendly animals that live there. But when all seems lost, his life is saved by the crown princess of the kingdom of Aucerius: Laeticia. Astonished by the sudden appearance of the man who rode into her life on a "shooting star", Laeticia asks Raymond to save her kingdom from the threat of the neighboring Vey'l Empire. He agrees in return for helping to find Chloe. Thus begins their journey to Aster IV, but Raymond soon realizes that he has not yet escaped the shadow of the Pangalactic Federation. "Where are you from, Ray?" "I come from another world far, far away in the sky." This encounter and the ensuing battle against an overwhelming force marks a new chapter in galactic history.
