Spartan X

Spartan X, known as Kung-Fu Master in North America, is a 1984 beat 'em up arcade game developed and published in Japan by Irem. In North America it was later published by Data East, but without the movie license. The Japanese version was based on the Jackie Chan movie Wheels on Meals, known in Japan as Spartan X, and was produced by "Paragon Films Ltd, Towa Promotion", who also produced the movie it was based on. The game is considered by many to be the first beat 'em up video game and includes elements of Bruce Lee's Game of Death.
Story
One day, kung fu master Thomas and his girlfriend Silvia are attacked by a gang of mysterious men. While Thomas tries to fend off the men in front of him, others come from behind, capture Silvia and then all run away. Thomas finds a letter left behind by a man called Mr. X, which says: Your love Silvia is now in our custody. If you want to save the life of your beloved Silvia, come immediately to the Devil's Temple, where five sons of the devil will entertain you. Thomas follows X's instructions and immediately appears in the temple. There he must fight his way through 5 floors, each with a series of enemies, obstacles and a boss at the end, until he reaches the sixth floor where he must fight Mr. X himself to free Silvia.
