Shadow Complex
"Shadow Complex" is a 2.5D-style side-scrolling action-adventure game in which the world is rendered in three dimensions, but movement takes place on a two-dimensional plane. Heavily inspired by the Metroidvania tradition, players explore a vast, interconnected underground complex, battle enemies, and gradually acquire new weapons and abilities that unlock previously inaccessible areas. An experience system allows the character to grow stronger over time and rewards exploration and combat with upgrades that carry over into new playthroughs.
Story
While backpacking through the mountains, Jason Fleming follows his girlfriend Claire into a cave system after she fails to answer his calls. Instead, he discovers a massive underground military complex run by a paramilitary group called “Progressive Restoration,” which is preparing coordinated attacks across the United States. Jason sets out to rescue Claire and thwart the group’s plans before they can plunge the country into chaos.
