Rygar
An evil being known as Ligar is about to conquer the land of Argool. His power is so great that no living creature dares to cross his path. But the legendary warrior Rygar rises from his grave to restore peace and justice. Armed with his famous weapon, Diskarmor, Rygar traverses the vast lands that lead to the demon's lair, while his minions try in vain to stop him...
Story
The arcade game begins with the following introduction: 4.5 billion years have passed since the creation of the Earth. Many rulers have ruled in all their glory, but time has been their greatest enemy and has defeated their rule. And now begins the reign of a new ruler.... Information from the console manuals reveals that the evil being Ligar has taken over the land of Argool. Rygar, a dead warrior who has risen from his grave, must use his Discarmor along with a variety of other weapons to stop him. In the console versions, hints and limited dialogue are given in the form of large, wisdom-like men that are encountered in stone green temples throughout the game. In the original Japanese, the names "Ligar" and "Rygar" are one and the same, because the Roman syllables "Li" and "Ry" come from the same Japanese character. In this version, the hero is referred to only as "The Legendary Warrior", while "Rygar" and "Ligar" refer to the main villain.
