Rana Rama
Mervyn, the sorcerer's apprentice, is trapped in a sinister dungeon after fleeing an invasion of warlocks. Life wouldn’t be so bad if he hadn’t accidentally turned himself into a frog while brewing a potion to improve his appearance. Help Mervyn track down the evil warlocks and destroy their hordes of monstrous guards. Blow up their menacing weapon generators and defeat the warlocks themselves in ritual magic battles… and if you still have enough strength left after all that—who knows, maybe you’ll manage to turn him back into the human Mervyn—el Wimpo or Rambo? But only if he gets the right magic potion!! The goal of the game is to start on the top level of the dungeon and defeat every warlock you encounter. Each warlock is guarded by groups of evil creatures—you earn extra points for destroying these creatures, but they have no impact on the main course of the game. Some of the rooms in the dungeon contain tomb-like weapon generators that produce dangerous weapons like whirling knives. Destroying the weapons doesn’t earn you anything, but you can shoot the generators to earn extra points. In some rooms, there are also mysterious symbols embedded in the floor. These symbols are called “floor glyphs,” and there are four different types. One type is used to cast spells; another can be activated to destroy some or all of your enemies in the room. The other two types are used to reveal a map of the current dungeon level or to transport you to a new level. When you defeat a warlock, try to capture the magical runes he releases, as you can use them to cast spells that make you stronger in attack and less vulnerable in defense. Once you’ve mastered the top level of the dungeon, you’ll be strong enough to venture further down and take on the more aggressive warlocks and their guardian creatures lurking down there.
