R-Type Delta

Story

It is the year 2163 and the trans-dimensional space fighter R-9A Arrowhead has returned from its mission to destroy the evil at the center of the Bydo Empire. Heavily damaged, it was rescued by the battle cruiser Croque-Monsieur and brought back to the space fortress Aegis. Astronomers in Central Asia observed strange objects begin to fall from the sky. As the objects approached Earth, they shrank and disappeared from the sensors. The astronomers assumed that the objects were meteorites and paid them no further attention. Soon the electronically controlled weapons systems in some cities went haywire and the astronomers detected several abnormal heat signatures. Due to the influence of the Bydos, control of the Moritz-G destruction platform circling in orbit was lost and it was unleashed on Earth. Moritz-G crashed into a city in Asia. Its ability to destroy the planet has not yet been activated, but its self-defense system has thwarted all attempts to approach it. An emergency military operation has been set in motion and the R-9A2 Delta test fighter has been assigned to the strike force.
