Purgatory

Traps... Purgatory comes from the late Latin verb "to purify". It is a hellish realm where people's souls temporarily reside in order to confess their sins and be punished. According to Roman Catholic doctrine, souls must atone for past sins in purgatory before they can go to heaven.
