Playboy: The Mansion is a social strategy game that challenges players to build a virtual empire of wealth, celebrity and freedom from puritanical oppression and intolerance. This is done by building a fully functional Playboy Mansion to attract and house influential celebrities and beautiful young models willing to strike the right poses. Players who build a suitably entertaining and well-appointed mansion while adhering to the "Playboy Philosophy" will be rewarded with the "Playboy Lifestyle" surrounded by powerful trendsetters, influential pop idols and sexually liberated young women. In short, the game invites players to slip into the role of a virtual Hugh Hefner. As Hef, players are responsible for keeping the Playboy brand relevant to its ever-changing audience. A good way to do this is to attract celebrity friends to the mansion and make sure they have a good time when they visit. If you have enough money, you can build new facilities such as swimming pools, cinemas or tennis courts that might be particularly attractive to certain celebrities. It's also a good idea to introduce these V.I.P. guests to Playmates who share their interests. The game's user interface should be familiar to Sims 2 players: Characters are controlled by mouse click through their 3D living environment, and when you click on an object, pop-up menus with possible interactions appear. Getting powerful celebrity friends to appear in an issue of Playboy magazine can increase circulation and thus bring in more money for future developments. As Hef, players can determine the content of each issue by choosing the articles, essays, covers and centerfolds. They also have the ability to direct the photo shoots by choosing the location on the mansion's grounds, the model, and the wardrobe - all with the option to go "topless." The game includes a structured campaign that recreates Hefner's rise to international stardom through a series of individual scenarios focused on building the fame, distribution and influence needed to make the Playboy brand what it is today. In the "Empire" mode, players design their own challenges, letting them set their own objectives and victory conditions.
