Players' pets could interact with each other within the "friend" network. Pets could visit their owner's friends' pets and perform activities with those pets (wash, groom, feed, etc.) A pet could visit other pets as many times a day as it wanted. Players received coins and Paw Points on their first visit of the day to each friend,[6] but only Paw Points on subsequent visits. Participating in the daily lottery, visiting friends, winning prizes, cleaning or playing with pets, winning hurdle races or betting on the outcome of hurdle races also offered players the opportunity to earn coins. Visiting friends, buying items and using the stadium earned players Paw Points. Paw Points are similar to XP/EXP (Experience) in other social games of this type; if you collect enough Paw Points, your pet levels up. When a pet was upgraded, the player received coins, new features and special status values. When Pet Society was first released, there were 34 levels. After the houses were increased to 10 rooms in 2009, 13 more levels were added, bringing the total number to 47. In August 2010, the level cap of Pet Society was increased to 100. Certain items only had to be purchased above a certain level.
