osu!
Osu! is an open-source rhythm game originally developed in 2007 by Australian developer Dean Herbert. The gameplay is based on the “Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan” series and mainly involves clicking on circles that appear on the screen with your cursor or finger in time with the music. The game offers four game modes: osu!standard (clicking on circles, sliders, and rotating tiles), osu!taiko (drum-based notes, inspired by “Taiko no Tatsujin”), osu!catch (catching falling fruit), and osu!mania (vertically scrolling, key-based notes). The levels, known as “beatmaps,” are created and uploaded by the community, resulting in a large and ever-growing library. Players can compete on global leaderboards sorted by performance points or join real-time multiplayer rooms. The game supports input via keyboard, mouse, and graphics tablet.
