Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

Onimusha 3 is the third game in the Onimusha series. The game keeps elements from the previous games in the series, including the use of multiple special weapons to fight enemies and absorb their energy to improve the weapons. This time, the player mainly controls Samanosuke and Jacques in separate scenarios. The two can exchange items to solve puzzles. The development of this game began after the release of the PlayStation 2, which allowed the team to work on a 3D engine to design 3D backgrounds. To appeal to the Western market, the team set the game in Paris and chose the French actor Jean Reno to play the role of Jacques. Onimusha 3 was generally well received by the video game press. Most writers especially praised the improved controls and the use of a 3D engine, which allowed for better combat and graphics. The game also achieved good sales figures, with over 1.5 million copies sold (as of May 2008).

Story

The story centers on the returning hero, the swordsman Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, who wants to defeat his nemesis Nobunaga Oda, who wants to conquer Japan with his army of demons, the Genma. However, Samanosuke switches places with a French officer from the future named Jacques Blanc, and both must adapt to their new world to get rid of Nobunaga and the Genma.
