Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is a 3D platforming adventure beat-em-up set in the Mortal Kombat world. The battles are fast-paced and offer numerous ways to take out enemies, including MK signature moves and fatalities. This Kombat goes beyond what you know from fighting games, because among the innovations are: The series' first multi-directional Kombat system, Multalities (kill multiple enemies with one move), Brutalities (you see red when you unleash brute force), co-op only team attacks, and even character progression (earn experience to spend on upgrades to moves). The backgrounds, all based on MK and MK II arenas, come to life with numerous dangers for the monks to use against their enemies.

Story

Based on the events that occurred at the end of Mortal Kombat and led to Mortal Kombat II, the story begins with the warriors of Earthrealm fighting for their lives against the forces of Outworld on Shang Tsung's island fortress. Liu Kang eventually confronts the sorcerer and gains the upper hand over him, until Goro intervenes in the fight. While the heroes are distracted by this new threat, Shang Tsung manages to open a portal to Outworld and retreat with his evil allies as the fortress begins to crumble around them. As they flee, Liu Kang and Kung Lao find the Wu Shi Academy, which is under attack by Baraka and his Tarkatans. They defeat them and decide to face the threat and fight their way through the outside world to meet Shao Kahn in person.
