Monster Hunter

Story

The player takes on the role of a customizable, self-created hunter. At the beginning, he enters the village of Kokoto, a small hunting village run by a village chief, the hero of Kokoto. The player grows in strength and abilities by helping the inhabitants of Kokoto village and completing many different quests to advance offline. This eventually culminates in a battle against the monster Monoblos, which is traditionally considered the offline final opponent. In online mode, the player travels to a town that is not named in the game, but is referred to as "Minegarde Town" in the Hunter's Encyclopedia Lorebook. In the town, the player joins with other hunters to become stronger until the giant dragon "Lao-Shan Lung" suddenly appears and panics the town. The player then teams up with hunters to kill or drive away Lao-Shan Lung so that he does not destroy any villages in the West Shrade Kingdom. Once he does that, he unlocks a whole new level of quests, called "High Rank" in later Monster Hunter games, but not mentioned in the original. Then the player encounters what is called the "Call of Wyvern Blood" and is confronted with the appearance of the black dragon "Fatalis", the online final boss. After defeating this evil dragon, the city and kingdom are safe and the player is considered a hero.
