Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie

The Super NES version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is a side-scrolling action game, similar to the previous SNES game based on the series. The game can be played by one or two players with six characters available. Billy and Kimberly return from the previous game. It also introduces Tommy as the White Ranger (as opposed to the Green Ranger) and three new Rookie Rangers, Rocky, Adam and Aisha, who replace Jason, Zack and Trini from the original game. The player begins each phase with the civilian role of their character. The player can fill up a "morphing meter" next to their life meter by picking up lightning-shaped items (either through small lightning bolts or morphing shield bolts). These items are dropped by enemies and can also be used to perform a special attack when the character is morphed in Ranger Mode. A special code created for the game can make players start stages as morphed Rangers instead of their civilian persona. Once the Morphin' Meter is filled, the player can press the special attack button to transform; an animated sequence will begin showing the Rangers in a digitized video (based on Season 2's transformation without the Red Ranger's helmet being configured at the end). The method also occurs automatically when the player progresses through the mission in civilian mode and encounters the boss that triggers the morph sequence (regardless of how much energy the Morphin' Meter has replenished). The game consists of seven stages. The player fights Lord Zedd's Putty Patrol until they reach the final boss of the stage. The first five bosses are all monsters from the second season of the TV series, while the sixth is a custom creation for the game. The final boss is Ivan Ooze, the antagonist from the movie. Unlike the first game, there are no giant robot battles in this version, although the Ninja Megazord from the movie (and the third season of the series) does make an appearance in the final sequence.
