Midnight Resistance

Midnight Resistance

Midnight Resistance is a side-scrolling action shooter game developed by Data East for arcades in 1989. The game was ported to the Sega Mega Drive by Data East in 1990 and to various home computer platforms by Ocean Software in the same year. The game is set in a dystopian future, in which the player controls a member of a resistance movement who goes on a mission to save his kidnapped family from a mad scientist.

Story

In the arcade version, two nameless brothers are on a mission to save their family from a creature called King Crimson. In the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version, the main character is Johnny Ford, who belongs to a group that takes out drug cartels in South America. After completing his last mission, Johnny returns home to find a note in which King Crimson has kidnapped his entire family. The reason for the kidnapping is that Johnny's father, Malcolm Ford, has developed a serum that can help people overcome their addiction to all drugs. Since the government is unable to help Johnny, he sets out on his own to save his family and destroy King Crimson's empire of evil once and for all.
