Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid is a stealth game by Hideo Kojima based on the MSX2 video games Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Although it is now in 3D, the gameplay of Metal Gear Solid is similar to its predecessors. The game uses a classic top-down perspective, and the player must navigate the protagonist, Solid Snake, through the game areas without being detected. If he is detected, an alarm is triggered, attracting armed enemies to his location. Conversations with Snake's allies and cutscenes are frequently used to advance the plot and gain more insight into it. Metal Gear Solid is considered one of the best and most important video games of all time and has helped popularize the stealth genre and cinematic cutscenes in the engine.

Story

The beginning of the 21st century. An incident of unprecedented proportions shakes the highest levels of the US government: the prototype armored biped, the Metal Gear, has been captured along with its nuclear payload by an armed group. As a radical response to this crisis situation, the government calls in Solid Snake, the master saboteur who single-handedly brought down the Outer Heaven fortress seven years ago.
