Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the last canonical Metal Gear game in which Solid Snake plays the main role. The gameplay of the previous games has been kept and expanded with some new features, such as the possibility of rolling on your back and hiding in the trash cans scattered around the environment. Most of the story and the relationships between the characters are explained in long cutscenes, so it is recommended to know the previous games to fully understand the story. The game also offers a complex multiplayer mode called Metal Gear Online, with some original missions based on the stealth aspects of the single-player games.
Story
In 2014, the world is in chaos and the "war economy" is plunging the world into a never-ending struggle. This is fueling the need for private military companies, the five largest of which (which together can take on the entire U.S. Army) are owned by a single parent company, Outer Heaven, with Liquid Ocelot at the helm. Liquid Ocelot, a fusion of Liquid Snake's consciousness and Revolver Ocelot's body, wants to take over the world once again. Solid Snake, also called Old Snake because of his advanced, accelerated aging, is hired to assassinate Liquid Ocelot as a personal favor to Roy Campbell.
