Mega Man X: Command Mission

Mega Man X: Command Mission

Mega Man X: Command Mission, known as Rockman X Command Mission in Japan, is a spin-off game of the Mega Man X series. It was released in 2004 for both the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube, making it the penultimate game in the Mega Man X series to be released. Unique to the series, it is an RPG with turn-based combat and an extensive story. Because of the joint development team, it plays similarly to Capcom's well-known Breath of Fire series in many ways. Chronologically, it is currently the furthest Mega Man X game set in the future, sometime in the twenty-third century (22XX); however, it is also set in an alternate timeline outside the main storyline of the Mega Man series. In the Gamecube version, you can connect to the Game Boy Advance to use the GBA as a treasure hunter. The PS2 version includes a Mega Man X8 demo.

Story

Prologue In the year 22XX A.D. Chr, a mysterious mineral called Force Metal was extracted from the fragments of a meteor that landed in the Pacific Ocean. The technology based on this metal revolutionized the field of Reploid technology. The Federation established Giga City, an artificial island, near the meteorite with the express purpose of mining and smelting the Force Metal. All seemed to be going well until a group of renegade Reploids armed themselves and instigated a rebellion on the island. They exiled all humans and demanded that the government recognize Giga City as an independent Reploid state. This new rebellion army and its leader Epsilon were branded Mavericks for this act. After the first team of Maverick fighters was destroyed or otherwise subdued by the Rebellion Army, Colonel Redips sent a special team consisting of X, Zero, and Shadow. If they failed in their mission - to arrest Epsilon and put down the Reploid uprising - the Federation would have no choice but to declare all-out war on Giga City and the Rebellion Army. Chapter 1: Infiltrate Giga City! X, Zero and Shadow teleport to the outskirts of Giga City to investigate an energy display in the Lagrano Ruins. The trio is separated by a mysterious explosion, but they continue to the top of the building. X and Zero meet near the top when they are suddenly attacked by Hippopressor, which they destroy. Once on the roof, X and Zero come face to face with Shadow and Epsilon. They begin to arrest Epsilon, but Shadow turns on them and reveals his true affiliation with the Rebellion Army. The Rebellion cadre - Scarface, Botos and Ferham - also reveal themselves and the hunters realize they have been ambushed. Zero tries to attack Epsilon, but is overwhelmed by the cadres' attacks and sent flying. Now X is alone and has no choice but to escape. He jumps from the roof into an abyss. Ferham takes up the chase, but Epsilon stops them, knowing that X will come back.
