Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

Story

Lt. Mike Powell, the protagonist, is a veteran U.S. Army Ranger and later an agent with the Office of Strategic Services. Powell and a group of Rangers are in Arzew, Algeria, fighting on the North African front. The squad fights its way into the town, but an ambush kills everyone except Powell. Powell penetrates further into a North African Axis base, where he rescues S.A.S. agent Major Grillo and recovers his equipment. The major and Lieutenant Powell split up, with Grillo securing transportation while Powell commits acts of sabotage in a motor pool. He then reunites with Grillo, who has commandeered a jeep with a mounted machine gun. The two then drive to a German airfield where they successfully destroy Stuka dive bombers that have landed there. While Grillo distracts the German troops, Powell sneaks into a bunker, cuts radio contact with the Axis forces, and fights his way to a lighthouse on the coast to signal the Allied fleet to begin the invasion of Africa. He then escapes with Grillo in a jeep. After the Allies' success in Africa, Powell and Grillo are sent to German-occupied Norway to infiltrate the city of Trondheim, where a Kriegsmarine submarine is equipped with a prototype Naxos radar detector. Grillo makes it into the base first, but is killed by German guards when he opens the front gate for Powell. Powell fights his way into the base, disguises himself as a German soldier and infiltrates the loading dock. He first goes into the lab, where he destroys the Naxos prototype. Then Powell gains access to a submarine that is to be equipped with the prototype, blows it up and escapes into the air shafts. He then escapes into the air shafts and fights his way out of the base, where he is picked up by a group of Allies. Thanks to Powell's efforts, the German submarine threat is neutralized and the way is cleared for the Allied invasion of Europe. Powell is sent to Omaha Beach under Captain Ramsay, where he and his fellow Rangers storm the bunkers and secure the beach despite heavy losses. He is then sent to the area beyond the beaches to assist various American units harassed by Nebelwerfers. Powell is then assigned to go behind enemy lines and gather information on German troop movements. After rescuing stranded British pilot Joe Baylor, Powell meets French resistance fighter Manon Batiste (the protagonist of Medal of Honor: Underground). She sends him out to carry out various acts of sabotage against the German war effort. He raids a mansion that serves as a command post and secures important enemy documents there, including the construction plans for the new King Tiger tank. With Manon's help, Powell then escapes from the mansion. Powell's next mission is to capture a King Tiger tank and use it to secure an important bridge in the city of Brest. After navigating his way through the sniper-infested ruins, he meets the American tank crew that has been selected for this mission. Powell and the tank crew capture the King Tiger and use it to fight their way across the country. Once in Brest, Powell gives the King Tiger cover to protect the bridge until reinforcements arrive to secure it. Powell's final mission sends him to Fort Schmerzen, a German mustard gas production facility previously raided by Lieutenant James Patterson but since reopened, ostensibly as a POW camp but possibly used for mustard gas production. Powell is parachuted into the woods, where he destroys some Flak 88s threatening Allied aircraft. He then infiltrates a weapons depot and destroys a supply of StG 44 assault rifles. He then destroys a German communications post, cutting off communications from Fort Schmerzen. Powell hijacks a freight train and, along with a group of U.S. Rangers, reaches Schmerzen. Once at Schmerzen, Powell and his fellow Rangers storm the fort and free all the POWs. Powell then fights his way to the lower levels of Schmerzen, where he discovers that the fort's mustard gas production facilities are still in operation. He plants explosives at the gas facilities and escapes just before Fort Schmerzen is destroyed.
