MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, you take on the role of a rookie MechWarrior who goes into battle as the Third Succession War continues to disrupt the Inner Sphere. Take orders from the factions of your choice and engage in first-person tactical PvE 'Mech combat in an immersive, career-based mercenary campaign that hinges on the player's choices. Victory, prestige and profit require skill not only on the battlefield, but also in acquiring, maintaining and upgrading your BattleMechs. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is scheduled for release in 2018 and is currently being developed by a dedicated team of developers at Piranha Games. MechWarrior Online, Piranha's existing F2P multiplayer game focused on tactical mech combat, continues to be developed live by the MWO team at Piranha.
Story
The year is 3015. Humanity has advanced to the stars and settled a vast region of space known as the Inner Sphere. Where the Star League once reigned in relative stability, generations of countless wars, alliances, and betrayals have divided the Inner Sphere into five distinct successor states. These states, also known as the Great Houses, have fought and argued for centuries over the remnants of the Star League and control of the Inner Sphere. Now they are in the midst of the Third Succession War, which has been raging for nearly 150 years. There are a variety of devastating weapons on the battlefields of the Inner Sphere, but none as fearsome as the BattleMech. These giant fighting machines, piloted by elite fighters called MechWarriors, dominate the wars of the future with firepower that can wipe out entire cities.
