Maximum Force
"Maximum Force" is a light gun shooter arcade game developed by Mesa Logic for Atari Games in 1997. In 1998, Atari Games re-released the game as part of a machine called the “Area 51/Maximum Force Duo,” which also included “Area 51,” and later ported the game to both the Sony PlayStation and the Sega Saturn. Like its predecessor, “Area 51,” “Maximum Force” is characterized by the use of digitized video footage stored on a built-in hard drive, as well as by the bizarrely contrasting, unrealistic shards into which every enemy shatters in exactly the same way when shot. While enemies, bystanders, and explosions consist of 2D video sprites, the levels and vehicles are pre-rendered in 3D.
