Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds

Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds was the successor to the successful but underrated Magic Carpet game. It fixed many of the design problems of the first Magic Carpet. The basic concept of the game is the same as Magic Carpet: The player can build a castle, collect mana, destroy creatures for their mana, and fight rival wizards. Night and underground levels were added, which not only toned down the repetition of the predecessor, but also accompanied the progression of the story described before each level. However, there are no rival wizards in the underground levels. Besides, there are several secret entrances to reach hidden levels, where the player can get more spells and experience. Unlike its predecessor, the game also went further by completing various missions, such as reaching checkpoints and destroying certain buildings/monsters, instead of simply collecting mana.
Story
The apprentice's master, who died after unleashing his deadly spell, has been spied on by the ruler of the underworld, Vissiluth, who now wants to conquer the world of the living. It is once again the apprentice's task to stop him by fighting the demon. The NPC wizards are now seen as Vissiluth's minions. They are all located in a city just outside Vissiluth's seat of power. After the enemy wizards are defeated, the apprentice takes an underground passage to reach Vissiluth's citadel. After the apprentice destroys the citadel, Vissiluth appears and the two fight each other. After victory, a volcano spews out mana in all possible colors.
