Kung-Fu Master

Kung-Fu Master, known in Japan as Spartan X (スパルタンX Suparutan X), is a 1984 beat 'em up arcade game developed by Irem and released in Japan. It was later published in North America by Data East. The Japanese version was based on the Jackie Chan movie Wheels on Meals, known as Spartan X in Japan, and was produced by "Paragon Films Ltd, Towa Promotion". The game is considered by many to be the first beat 'em up video game and contains elements of Bruce Lee's Game of Death.

Story

One day, kung fu master Thomas and his girlfriend Silvia are attacked by a gang of mysterious men. While Thomas tries to fight off the people in front of him, more come up behind him, capture Silvia, and then all take off. Thomas finds a letter left behind by a man named Mr. X, which states: Your love Silvia is now in our custody. If you want to save the life of your beloved Silvia, come immediately to the Devil's Temple, where five sons of the devil will entertain you. Thomas follows X's instructions and immediately appears in the temple. There he'll have to fight his way through 5 floors, each with a series of enemies, obstacles and a boss, until he reaches the 6th floor, where he'll have to fight Mr. X himself to free Silvia.
