Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III is the third main part of the Kingdom Hearts series, developed and published by Square Enix. It was released in January 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. An expansion, Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind, was released in January 2020. The story takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. The main character is an elderly Sora who goes on a new adventure to find the seven Guardians of Light and stop Xehanort from starting a second Keyblade War. Sora is accompanied by Donald Duck, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Riku, Kairi and others. Along the way, Sora travels to many Disney and Pixar worlds and meets the real Organization XIII. Kingdom Hearts III features hack-and-slash combat reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts II, with elements from later handheld titles. The player can control Sora in a group with Donald, Goofy and up to two other Disney characters from the different worlds he visits. An important new feature in the comparison is the shape-shifting mechanic, which allows him to gain special abilities and change his shape with his currently equipped Keyblade. Sora can equip up to three Keyblades at once and switch between them to use his abilities. Another new feature is the attraction mechanic that lets Sora occasionally summon and control a vehicle inspired by Disney theme park attractions. At certain points in the game, the player can control other characters.

Story

Through countless adventures in many worlds in his long battle against the darkness, Sora, who was once a young boy who only dreamed that there were worlds beyond his island, has grown into a dashing young man. Now he realizes that this battle has gone exactly as Master Xehanort had planned, and the second Keyblade War, the final battle between Light and Darkness, is about to begin. To fight the overwhelming darkness, Sora and his friends must gather the seven Guardians of Light. His best friend Riku and King Mickey set off in search of a battle-hardened Keyblade bearer, while Sora, Donald and Goofy set off in search of the "Key to the Return of Hearts". Never-before-seen Disney worlds set the stage for another daring adventure to save the universe! He was chosen by the Keyblade and is the one whose heart's light shines again and again as a beacon of hope. Sora, the brave hero chosen by the Keyblade, has always had a strong sense of justice. Through his many battles against the darkness, he has grown and learned much about the world. Drawn to his light, many friends have supported him and lent him their powers to fight the darkness: Riku, the childhood friend he grew up with on the Destiny Islands; Donald and Goofy, the two brave companions with whom he has shared his adventures from the beginning; and King Mickey, who gives Sora his unflagging support. As the world becomes embroiled in another battle against the darkness, the Keyblade bearer and his friends must rise up against Master Xehanort and thwart his plan to instigate another Keyblade war.
