Jonah Lomu Rugby

Jonah Lomu Rugby

The game supports one to four players. There are a number of game modes - including knockout matches, world championships, regional competitions and historical matches. Jonah Lomu Rugby was the first rugby union game released for the PlayStation platform. At the time of its release, the game was relatively highly praised. Particularly praised at the time were the fluid gameplay and the quality of the graphics. Similar to another sports title released around the same time, Brian Lara Cricket 99, the commentary is of great importance in certain gaming circles. It is provided by former television announcers Bill Beaumont and Bill McLaren, and often includes funny and memorable phrases such as "Oh! Mercy! What a tackle! That could have put him in Ward 4!" followed by "I hope not, Bill, that's a maternity ward!". One particularly bizarre comment is the line "digging in like a demented mole there," referring to players throwing themselves into rucks. The two commentators joke with each other a lot, which adds to the flow and realism of the game.
