Jet Set Radio Future
Jet Set Radio Future is a video game developed by Smilebit that is the sequel to Jet Set Radio. Similar to the original, it shows a future Tokyo where free speech is outlawed. The player plays a character of the GG's, a gang of inline skating graffiti artists who skate through Tokyo covering the graffiti of rival gangs, knocking over the Rokkaku police and dancing to the electric soundtrack. The game uses a cel-shading animation style and has been praised for its unique music style, detailed graphics and gameplay. Although the game is set in the future, the style and content incorporate many aspects of the oldschool hip-hop culture of the 1980s and the J-pop culture of the 1990s.
Story
Jet Set Radio Future is set in the year 2024 in Tokyo-To, Japan, where a street gang, the GG's, is fighting for control of the streets against rival gangs and the large and powerful Rokkaku Group, led by Gouji Rokkaku. The Rokkaku Group is trying to take control of Tokyo and turn it into a totalitarian police state. At the beginning of the game, the player takes control of YoYo, an aspiring member of the GG's who must pass a series of simple tests to join the group. After that, the player can explore Tokyo and take on the fight against the Rokakku group and rival gangs as YoYo, Corn or Gum. As the game progresses, the player can play as up to 21 other unlockable characters.
