Jet Grind Radio

Jet Grind Radio

The government is trying to silence the kids of Tokyo, but with their Overdrive Magnetic-Motor Skating shoes, the cops have to catch them first. The Jet Grind Radio program keeps the kids together and inspires them to fight for their rights to express themselves, which includes graffiti art. Grab your spray cans and create your own work on one of the giant walls in the interactive 3D city. You may be forced to protect your territory from opponents who want to take over your neighborhood. Join forces with hip like-minded people who will help you keep your territory the way you want it. The cops are after you too, so you'll have to be quick. The 10 cartoon-style characters are pumped up with polygons to bring them to life in 3D on the Dreamcast. Uniqueness is the name of the game for these kids, and each character features exclusive abilities and a distinct style. They also like to show off, and with 18 missions, there's plenty of time to impress. It's fast, it's fun and it's definitely funky.

Story

DJ Professor K broadcasts the pirate radio station Jet Set Radio to gangs of youths who roam Tokyo-to skate and spray graffiti. One gang, the GGs, competes for territory with the female Love Shockers in the shopping districts of Shibuya-Cho, the Cyborg Noise Tanks in the Benten entertainment district, and the kaiju-loving Poison Jam in the Kogane Shipyard. The authorities, led by Captain Onishima, pursue the gangs with riot police and military-grade weaponry. After the GGs defeat Poison Jam, Noise Tanks and Love Shockers in turf wars, each of them drops a piece of a mysterious vinyl record. Professor K says that the mysterious record has the power to summon a demon. The GGs are joined by Combo and Cube, who explain that their hometown of Grind City has been taken over by the Rokkaku corporate conglomerate. They ask the GGs to help them free their friend Coin, who has been captured by the Rokkaku. The Rokkaku pursue the GGs and steal the record. Poison Jam explains that the head of the Rokkaku, Goji Rokkaku, wants to use the record to make a deal with the demon and conquer the world. The GGs defeat Goji on the roof of his headquarters by destroying his record player. Freedom returns to the streets of Tokyo. Combo reveals that the devil's contract was an old record without demonic powers and that wealth had driven Goji mad.
