Ikaruga

Ikaruga

In this vertically scrolling spaceship shooter you'll control a ship that can change its polarity at will. As blue/white, the ship can easily destroy red/black enemies and vice versa. Bullets of your polarity can be collected to replenish your energy meter, but the opposite bullets will kill you. When you destroy an enemy ship, it fires revenge bullets that can be absorbed and shot back by the player. There are different difficulty levels that determine exactly how you interact with polarized dots or what they look like. It is the spiritual successor to Radiant Silvergun and features similar level and boss design, as well as Buddhist-inspired themes and aesthetics. Both are directed by Hiroshi Iuchi, who also composed the soundtrack of Ikaruga.
