Gunforce
GunForce: Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island, or simply GunForce, is a side-scrolling action shooter developed by Irem in 1991 for arcades. The game was later ported by Bits Studios and released exclusively in Japan for the Super Famicom by Irem in 1992. Outside of Japan, there was later a sequel called GunForce II, which was originally known as Geo Storm in Japan. The player has a weapon that fires rapidly. The firing direction can be set so that the player does not have to constantly hold the joystick in that direction. Players can find motorcycles to race through enemy territory faster, as well as helicopters and cable cars. After achieving a high score, players can enter their name in the high score list after reaching the game over screen, regardless of whether they win or lose. A strict time limit ensures that the game runs at a steady pace throughout; the consequence is the loss of a life.
