Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s (in Europe Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s) is a music rhythm game and the third installment of the popular Guitar Hero series. It was released in North America and Europe in July 2007 and in Australia in August 2007. Players use a guitar-shaped controller (sold separately) to simulate playing rock music by strumming notes as they roll to the player. Rocks the 80s is more of an extension of the Guitar Hero series than a full sequel. No changes have been made to the gameplay of Guitar Hero II. As the title suggests, the game revolves around the 1980s, with songs from that decade and playable characters, fashion and artwork that reflect that time. The game was not as well received as the previous two Guitar Hero games, due to the lack of new gameplay features and a reduced soundtrack. Rocks the 80s is the third and last title in the Guitar Hero series, developed by Harmonix before they turned their attention to developing Rock Band.[5] The next major installment in the series, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, was developed by Activision's Neversoft division.[6]
