Gravitar

Gravitar

Gravitar is a color vector graphics arcade game released by Atari, Inc. in 1982. The player controls a small blue spaceship in a fictitious solar system with several planets to explore. When the player steers his ship into a planet, he is transferred to a side view of the landscape. In contrast to many other shooter games, gravity plays a major role in Gravitar: In the overworld, the ship is slowly pulled towards the deadly star, in the side view levels it is pulled downwards. In the side-view levels, the player must destroy red bunkers that are constantly firing, and he can also use the tractor beam to collect blue fuel tanks. When all bunkers are destroyed, the planet explodes and the player receives a bonus. When all the planets have been destroyed, the player moves to another solar system.
