Front Mission 3 was the first title in the Front Mission series to be released in North America, Europe, and Australia.
Story
There are two storylines in Front Mission 3, both of which revolve around the Japanese Wanzer test pilots Kazuki Takemura and Ryogo Kusama. An early decision at the start of the game allows the player to play either the DHZ scenario or the USN scenario. The DHZ scenario features the Japanese scientist Aliciana "Alisa" Takemura, while the USN scenario revolves around the scientist Emir "Emma" Klamsky. Although both scenarios have different characters and storylines, they share a number of in-game events and locations. Due to the storytelling approach, it is not known which of the two scenarios is canonically linked to Front Mission 5: Scars of the War. On October 31, Kazuki begins testing a new Wanzer prototype at the Kirishima Heavy Industries test site near Okinawa. After the test is completed, he is informed that some Wanzers need to be taken to the JDF base in Yokosuka. Ryogo asks Kazuki if he can accompany him to deliver the tanks. If the player decides to go with him, they play the USN scenario. If the player does not go with him, they play the DHZ scenario. In both cases, Kazuki and Ryogo are eventually tasked with bringing the Kirishima prototypes to the base in Yokosuka. As they prepare the tanks for delivery, an explosion causes Kazuki to attempt to enter the base itself. The two test pilots are eventually forced to leave the base. When Kazuki learns that his sister Alisa has recently been transferred to the base, Kazuki and Ryogo finally find themselves back at the facility.
