Forgotten Worlds

Forgotten Worlds

Forgotten Worlds can be played by up to two players simultaneously. The player controls a flying, muscle-bound soldier armed with a rifle with unlimited ammunition. Player 1's character is equipped with a long-range automatic rifle, while Player 2 has a long-range rifle for short distances. The controls in the original version consist of an eight-way joystick to move the character in the air, and a unique rotating knob known as the "roll switch": by turning the switch to the left or right, the player can adjust his character's aim in one of sixteen directions, while by pressing the switch he fires his gun. In this way, the player can move his character anywhere while keeping his aim in one direction. If you press the switch quickly, the character will perform a "megacrush" attack that will destroy all the enemies on the screen, but at the cost of a part of their life energy meter. The player character is accompanied by a satellite module that circles near him and provides additional firepower every time the player fires his weapon. Like the main character, the satellite can be rotated using the reel switch. If you rotate the character while firing, only the satellite's target will be rotated. On the other hand, if you rotate the character without firing, not only will the satellite's target be rotated, but its relative position around the player will also be changed. The player can receive blue coins, called "zennies", for defeating enemies in the game. The zennies are used as currency to buy new power-up items in stores located at specific points in each stage. When the player enters a store, he/she has a choice of available items and a limited time to buy them. These items are primarily new weapons for the satellite module, but also a health pack to restore lost vitality, armor that lets the player take extra damage, and even tips on how to defeat the boss at the end of the current stage. Forgotten Worlds consists of five stages with a total of eight bosses. The player loses when his/her life energy meter is empty, but he/she has the chance to continue.
