Story
The game takes place in a world that resembles the Earth of today. The nations of the world once warred over control of the world's crystals, and all but the nation of Lucis have lost theirs and reverted to medieval societies. Noctis Lucis Caelum, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Lucis - who has gained magical powers through a near-death experience - is driven from his homeland when the Empire of Niflheim invades Lucis on the eve of the final peace negotiations between the two nations. Together with his companions, Noctis is now on the run and sets out to defeat the forces of Niflheim and free the crystal from their control.
