F1 2012

In addition to the new test mode for young drivers, F1 2012 also features a new "Champions Mode" in which the six world champions of the 2012 season - Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher - are modeled after the traditional final opponents in video games and the player has to beat them in the conditions that suit each driver. Another new mode is the "Season Challenge" mode. Feedback to Codemasters was that players were only playing the game when they had a few hours to spare. In response to this, Codemasters introduced this mode to allow players to simply play for a short period of time. In this mode, players start in a team at the bottom of the field and, over the course of a ten-race season, switch teams mid-season based on how well they manage to beat opposing drivers and targets. Codemasters has also introduced "one-shot qualifying," where the player must complete a single lap to qualify for the race. The three-stage knockout system is still an option, but the 20-minute single race is no longer available in career mode. There is no longer the option to include all three practice sessions in a race weekend, but only a single, one-hour session.
