Empires: Dawn of the Modern World

Empires: Dawn of the Modern World is a 2003 history-based real-time strategy game developed by Stainless Steel Studios and released on October 21, 2003. In the game, which is considered an unofficial sequel to Empire Earth, players must gather resources to build an empire, train military units and conquer opposing civilizations. Empires is based on a slightly condensed version of world history and covers five eras, from the Middle Ages to the Second World War. The game features nine civilizations: England, the Franks, Korea and China are playable from the Middle Ages to the Imperial period; the United States, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom are playable in World War I and World War II. The game was well received by critics. In 2009, Activision terminated the contract with GameSpy for the multiplayer servers. Multiplayer can be played unofficially in Gameranger services.
